Asks Colleagues to Protect Minors from Dangerous Practices

BATON ROUGE—The Louisiana Freedom Caucus has voted unanimously to support HB648, the “Stop Harming Our Kids Act,” authored by Rep. Gabe Firment. The bill prohibits healthcare professionals from knowingly committing any act for the purpose of altering a minor child’s biological sex, including the administration of puberty blockers and surgical mutilation of a minor child’s genitalia.

“The overwhelming majority of the people of Louisiana support protecting innocent children from these life-altering and irreversible medical procedures. Passing this bill is the right thing to do. I am thankful that Representative Firment brought this bill and we support him in every way possible,” said Alan Seabaugh, Chairman of the Louisiana Freedom Caucus.
